Pascoag Utility District (PUD) is pleased to announce today that it will be receiving a check for $53,399.75 from FEMA/RI-EMA for reimbursement of costs related to PUDs recovery from the damage sustained to its system during Tropical Storm Irene.

For a small company such as PUD, with an operations budget of approximately $2.5 million annually, this reimbursement is a very significant contribution to the costs of the devastation caused by Irene.

PUD qualified for this reimbursement since it is a quasi-municipal, non-profit, public power entity owned by its customer membership. PUD was created as a public entity by state legislation in 2001 and before that was integrated with the Pascoag Fire District dating back to 1887. As a chartered utility district, PUD strives to bring the most reliable electric and water distribution services it can to its customer base, at the lowest practical cost. The above mentioned reimbursement goes a long way in allowing PUD to once again build up its storm reserve fund, and to continue to provide exceptional service to its customers.

PUD is very appreciative of the work both FEMA and RI-EMA staff provided as we worked through the reimbursement process.
